Purpose of the Policy

Terence Ray Solicitors (TRS) is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in all
aspects of its work. The firm recognises that treating people fairly and with respect is
fundamental to maintaining public trust in the legal profession and to delivering quality legal
services.

This policy sets out the firm’s commitment to preventing unlawful discrimination and ensuring
equality of opportunity in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and other applicable
legislation.

The firm will take all reasonable steps to ensure that no individual is treated less favourably
because of a protected characteristic and that all individuals are treated with dignity, courtesy
and respect.

This policy applies to all individuals working within or on behalf of TRS, regardless of their
contractual status.

Complaints and Concerns

Any concerns relating to discrimination, harassment or unfair treatment should be raised with a supervisor or with the firm’s management.

All complaints will be taken seriously and investigated promptly and fairly. No individual will be subjected to victimisation for raising a genuine concern under this policy.

Monitoring

The firm may monitor aspects of its employment practices where appropriate to identify potential barriers to equality of opportunity.

Any monitoring will be conducted in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

Review of the Policy

This policy will be reviewed periodically, once every two years or more frequently, if the need arises, to ensure that it remains effective and compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.

Appendix 1 – Reasonable Adjustments Policy

The firm will take reasonable steps, where appropriate, to make adjustments to enable disabled individuals to access its services or participate fully in the workplace.
