General Business Visitor

A Business Visitor Visa allows overseas nationals to travel to the UK for a limited range of business activities without the need for a work visa. It is a short-term visa for those who are employed or self-employed outside the UK and do not intend to take up paid work in the UK during their visit.

Permitted activities include attending meetings and conferences, carrying out site visits, meeting UK clients or colleagues, signing contracts, and undertaking training. The activities must relate to your overseas employment.

You cannot be paid by a UK source for any work you carry out during your visit, and you cannot produce goods or provide services directly to third parties in the UK. The permitted activities list is specific, and attempting to work outside its scope can lead to refusal of entry or future visa difficulties.

A Business Visitor Visa is valid for up to six months, and multiple-entry visas are available for frequent business travellers. You must intend to leave the UK at the end of your permitted stay.

Preparing a strong Business Visitor application involves demonstrating your employment abroad, the purpose and duration of your visit, and your intention to return home. A clear itinerary or invitation letter from your UK business contact is often helpful.

At Terence Ray Solicitors, we advise corporate clients and individuals on the correct visa category for their business travel needs and assist with applications to ensure smooth entry to the UK.
